SUMMARY:43rd Annual 40-Day Spiritual Festival 2026 from June 19-July 29 (Guru Purnima)\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:43rd Annual 40-Day Spiritual Festival 2026\nJune 19- July 29 (Guru Purnima)\, 2026\n  \nAnnual Festival of Spiritual Peace\n~ Swami Ritavan Bharati~\nThrough the living presence of Swami Veda here in Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama\, we are inspired to return “home” to the theme of “Vasudeva”. This theme holds many gems of sadhana practiced as the Annual 40-Day Festival of Spiritual Peace. \nDuring this forty day period we all have an opportunity for celebrating the prosperity that sadhana brings. The prospering of sadhana means that there is greater peace in everyone’s mind. Only peace in individual minds can bring peace in the world. Therefore\, let our striving and endeavor for internal peace be an unceasing one; spread it wide; enlarge the circle of those who feel and contemplate such peaceful ways of living. That is the only way for world peace. \nEnjoy this immersion in sadhana during the festival celebration of Spiritual Peace. \n(Courtesy of AHYMSIN\,org \n\n	\n\n\nRead here “43rd Annual 40-Days Spiritual Festival\, June 19-July 29\, 2026″ courtesy of AHYMSIN.org. \nThe festival is 40-days of purification of all aspects of our being through chosen practices. \nSome options for practices are : \nBegin or increase the Sangha “Vasudevaya’  mantra japa…Decrease screen time\, especially in the evening; put down the phone\, turn off the computer. \nFind ways to honor Earth Mother: walk in silence in the woods\, feed the wild animals\, nourish the ants\, pick up trash in nature\, contemplate one of the five elements in nature. \nFast one day a week\, could be partial fasting or simply eliminating one preferred food item. \nContemplate that which helps you be still. \nDo self-study and journal your experiences. \nStudy “Sutra 1.33\,” the Brahma Viharas\, especially Upeksha (equanimity in the face of evil.

SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang In Person and via Zoom : "Meditation and Music" A viewing of a prerecorded talk by Rolf Sovik (February 19\, 1978) - July 2\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:  \nThursday Satsang In Person and via Zoom\nJuly 2\, 2026\n“Meditation and Music”\nA viewing of a prerecorded talk by Rolf Sovik (February 19\, 1978)\n7:00-8:30 p.m. CT\n\n	\n\n\nNew start time\, 6:00-7:00 p.m.: In-Person Gentle Yoga with Michael Snodgrass\n7:00-7:15 p.m.: Guided Meditation\n7:15-8:30 p.m.: “Meditation and Music”\nA viewing of a prerecorded talk by Rolf Sovik  (February 19\, 1978)\n8:35 p.m.: Evening Chants\n8:40 p.m. Tea\n\n	\n\n\nIn this compelling talk\, recorded in 1978\, Rolf Sovik\, a lead teacher and administrator of the Meditation Center at that time\, spoke on Nada Yoga\, the yoga of sacred sound. \nIn this talk Rolf guides students through the subtle body using breath awareness and the So-ham mantra. \nIn this practice\, with the changes of pitch and subtle vibrations\, the body becomes an inner instrument for sound and music. \nRolf also talks about the origin of scale notation in Western music (circa 1025) coming originally from a prayer/hymn to St. John the Baptist\, whereas in other cultures\, such as India\, different musical scales are used\, with more pitches\, based on a musician’s inner experience. \nSee Swami Rama’s description of subtle sounds in PATH OF FIRE AND LIGHT: ADVANCED PRACTICES OF YOGA (1996)\, pp. 106-108 and pp. 132-133. \nBoth Swami Rama and Swami Veda have taught Baka Mudra\, where subtle sounds can be heard. Swami Rama wrote\, “Anahata nada is the celestial sound heard by the mental ear of a yogi” and it is “the very basis of all music practiced and played all over the world. In all the music of the world\, there are only seven key notes. The Sama Veda explains extensively the origin of music and its effect on the minds and hearts of the sadhakas. It is said that music also could lead the aspirant to a state of ecstasy and samadhi\, but such musicians are rare\, and they devote their whole lives to practicing music as the only method for attaining samadhi.” See Swami Rama’s CHOOSING A PATH (1982)\, pp. 172-173.) \n\n	\n\n\nTo support the work of The Meditation Center and register you can donate here or make a general donation by clicking on the “donate” button on the “Support TMC” website page. Or donate through PayPal. \nThere is parking available for TMC visitors in the St. Boniface lot across the street from the Center. \n [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Meditation and Contemplation in Classic Indian Philosophies: An introductory look. Taught by Paul Emerson Ph.D. Five-Week Series: June 23 - July 21\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:Meditation and Contemplation in Classic Indian Philosophies:\nAn introductory look\nTaught by Paul Emerson Ph.D.\nFive-Week Series: June 23 – July 21\, 2026\nIn Person and Via Zoom\n6:30-8:00 p.m.\nCost: $60.00\nRegister here\nPhilosophy is a description of experience. When we have an experience we create a philosophy when we attempt to explain it to ourselves or others. The Indian culture and practices of introspection and rituals gave birth to a number of classical philosophies–each of which have slightly different flavors of meditation and contemplation. While the subject area is certainly vast it may be helpful to spend some time thinking about some of these areas as we develop our own philosophical explanations of meditation. \nWithin these five weeks we will spend some time with the Vedic\, Samkhya-Yogic\, Vedantic\, Tantric\, and possibly Bhaktic traditions\, discussing the basic texts and attempting some of the key practices.     . \n. \nPaul Emerson is a biomedical engineer with a Ph.D. He is the authority on the physiology of breathing for The Meditation Center and has been teaching yoga for over 30 years. Paul has worked as a research scientist\, has been a manager of clinical research with a major biomedical company and a university instructor. In addition\, he holds eight patents in the areas of dialysis and sleep therapy. he is a scholar of ancient yoga texts. Paul was certified by the Rockford School of Yoga and began teaching in 1975.
