SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang: "Problems and Practicalities of Immortality" with Paul Emerson Ph.D. - November 1\, 2018
DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang – November 1\, 2018\n“Problems and Practicalities of Immortality” with Paul Emerson Ph.D.\n  \nThe period of Halloween\, All Saints Day and All Souls Day is a time to contemplate “ultimates” such as death and the periods beyond death. Many of our faith traditions have ideas of “ever lasting life” and certainly popular culture is fond of dramatizing the “undead” in all of their various (usually horrifying) forms. From a yoga perspective the idea of immortality is something which is simply a fact. That does not mean\, however\, that it is without problems or unworthy of our contemplation. Moreover\, there are various yogic practices which have been described in the tradition as extending physical life (at least for the advanced practitioners). This discussion will try to address some of these ideas and make them practical.

SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang: “Four Ashramas of Life – Fourth Stage of Renunciation or Sannyasa" with Swami Radha Bharati and Eric Ness - “Treasured Echoes” Festival of An Archive of Dr. Arya’s Audios - November 29\, 2018
DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang: November 29\, 2018\n“Treasured Echoes”\nFestival of An Archive of Dr. Arya’s Audios with Swami Radha Bharati and Eric Ness\n“Four Ashramas of Life – Fourth Stage of Renunciation or Sannyasa“\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe topic for Thursday will be the fourth stage of life according to yoga philosophy: renunciation or sannyasa. We will hear Swami Veda’s advice for navigating this time of  life. We’ll discuss how the advice from decades ago is still relevant to life in modern America. \nEric has been teaching meditation and yoga for over ten years. His teaching is based on the experiences that he had while immersed in a meditative environment. He deepened his study of meditation while participating in the residential program at the Meditation Center. He also trained for three years at the Swami Rama Institute for Meditation in India. His calm teaching style brings students the tools they need to move toward a peaceful state of mind. \n\nSwami Ma Radha Bharati earned an M.A. in philosophy and commenced doctoral studies in Eastern and Western philosophy with emphasis on views of the self and mind. She has taught philosophy at a number of schools including the University of Hawaii. She received a fellowship from the Humphrey Institute in Public Policy. Swami Ma Radha was initiated by H.H. Sri Swami Rama 33 years ago and has been an active member of The Meditation Center community ever since. \n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n6:00pm Hatha Yoga\n\n7:00pm Meditation with Swami Radha Bharati\n7:30pm Presentation by Swami Radha Bharati and Eric Ness\n\n8:30pm Soup\n\n9:00pm Prayers and Meditation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll are welcome!
