SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang: Reading of Rabindranath Tagore's "Gitanjali" with John David Wilson - January 3\, 2019
DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang – January 3\, 2019\nReading of Rabindranath Tagore’s “Gitanjali”\nwith John David Wilson\n\n\n\n\n\nJohn will be reading and discussing Tagore’s poem\,\nGitanjali; a poem that is meditative and beloved around the world.\n\n\n…The English Gitanjali or Song Offering is a collection of 103 English poems of Tagore’s own English translations of his Bengali poems first published in November 1912 by the India Society of London. It contained translations of 53 poems from the original Bengali Gitanjali\, as well as 50 other poems… In 1913\, Tagore became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize for Literature\, largely for the English Gitanjali. \n\n\n…The word gitanjali is composed from “geet”\, song\, and “anjali”\, offering\, and thus means – “An offering of songs”; but the word for offering\, anjali\, has a strong devotional connotation\, so the title may also be interpreted as “prayer offering of song”… From wikipedia.org.\n\n\n\n\n“When I go from hence\, let this be my parting word\, that what I have seen is unsurpassable. \nI have tasted of the hidden honey of this lotus that expands on the ocean of light\, and thus I am blessed-let this be my parting word. \nIn this playhouse of infinite forms I have had my play and here have I caught sight of him who is formless. \nMy whole body and my limbs have thrilled with his touch who is beyond touch; and if the end comes here\, let it come-let this be my parting word.”  \n      Rabindranath Tagore\, Gitanjali: Song Offerings \n\n\n\n\n\n\n6:00 p.m. Hatha Yoga\n\n7:00 p.m. Meditation with John David Wilson\n7:30 p.m. Readings from Gitanjali with John David Wilson\n\n8:30 p.m.Vegan Soup and Clean-Up\n9:00 p.m. Prayers and Meditation\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nAll are welcome! SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang: "Biofeedback and Stress Management" with Daniel Hertz - January 17\, 2019
DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang – January 17\, 2019\nBiofeedback and Stress Management\nwith Daniel Hertz\n  \nBiofeedback is well-recognized as a powerful\, non-invasive\, and relatively simple way to measure subtle changes in the emotional and physiological state.  The goal is to learn self-regulation.  Self-regulation skills are a prerequisite to learning stress management skills.  These same skills also allow us to check and refine the breathing and relaxation skills used in the meditation process.  The three keys to learning self-regulation will be discussed\, and there will also be demonstrations of the equipment. Sensors include respiration\, heart rate\, skin temperature\, muscle tension\, and skin conductance. \nDaniel Hertz (MS\, BCB\, E-RYT 500) has been on the faculty of The Meditation Center in Minneapolis since 1995 and has been offering individual Biofeedback sessions since 2007.  Please see the Biofeedback link on The Center’s home page for more information. Daniel is internationally certified as a Biofeedback practitioner through BCIA.org.  He is also the author of Swami Hari: I am a simple forest monk\, which is available on Amazon.  All profits from the sale of the book go to SRIVERM\, the school in the remote Himalayas founded by Swami Hari.
