SUMMARY:Sunday Satsang: Special Guest Speaker: Pandit Tejomaya 10:00 a.m. – 12 Noon
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Satsang Session\nFebruary 17th (10:00 a.m. – Noon)\n \nSPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER:\nPANDIT TEJOMAYA\n \n******************************************* \n  \nThis week we are privileged to have a special guest speaker: Pandit Tejomaya. Maybe you were fortunate enough to listen to his talks on Implementing Ahimsa (Non-violence) and/or his talk on the Five Kleshas (Afflictions/Hindrances). \nThis Sunday he will speak on a subject “very dear to his heart\,” Vanaprastha\, the 3rd Stage of Life\, known as the Forest-dweller Stage. \nIndian society there are Four Stages of Life: \nBrahmacharya (Studentship) (Age 0-25)\, \nGrihastha (Householder) (Age 26-50)\, \nVanaprastha (Forest-dweller) (Age 51-75) and \nSannyasa (Renunciate Monk) (Age 76-100). \nIn the Vanaprastha Stage of Life\, traditionally\, people begin to downsize\, renounce their possessions\, take a vow of celibacy\, and devote themselves to spiritual practices and service to the community. \nPandit Tejomaya has taken the Vanaprastha Vow and is the perfect person to help guide those who have retired from the marketplace and are looking for ways to enhance the remainder of their lives. \nPandit Tejomaya was born as Timothy Bruns in Rochester\, Minnesota. He aspired to a spiritual life from an early age and\, in the lineage of his upbringing\, became a monk in the Dominican Order of Preachers. But\, the hand of the Guru closed that door for him and slowly opened another. Pandit Tejomaya had studied philosophy at the University of Minnesota while Swami Veda was on the faculty but did not meet him. He studied yoga for many years in Minnesota but never learned of the Meditation Center. It was not until moving to Canada\, with the gentle renouncing of career and homeland\, that he was exposed to the teachings of the Guru Lineage. Pandit Tejomaya received mantra initiation from Swami Veda in 2007 and was initiated as a pandit in 2012. He now lives a simple life of sadhana on Lasqueti Island in British Columbia\, Canada. \n\nSunday Community Gathering (Satsang)\nSunday Satsang sessions are informal gatherings of people who are interested in refining their meditative practices and their lifestyles following the teachings of the Himalayan Yoga Tradition. \nSenior Teachers Jim Nelson and Michael Smith host each session: \n\nMeet from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon\n45-minute Guided Meditation\nPresentation and a Discussion\n\nThere are some Sundays when Sunday Satsang is not held or when other events and presentations replace the Sunday Satsang sessions. When that occurs\, we try to notify all interested people in advance on The Meditation Center website. \nTo receive personal email announcements from Michael about the status of the Sunday Satsang sessions and/or the focus of the week’s offerings\, please call The Meditation Center office at 612-379-2386.
