SUMMARY:Sunday Satsang: Special Guest Speaker: Pandit Tejomaya 10:00 a.m. – 12 Noon
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Satsang Session\nFebruary 17th (10:00 a.m. – Noon)\n \nSPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER:\nPANDIT TEJOMAYA\n \n******************************************* \n  \nThis week we are privileged to have a special guest speaker: Pandit Tejomaya. Maybe you were fortunate enough to listen to his talks on Implementing Ahimsa (Non-violence) and/or his talk on the Five Kleshas (Afflictions/Hindrances). \nThis Sunday he will speak on a subject “very dear to his heart\,” Vanaprastha\, the 3rd Stage of Life\, known as the Forest-dweller Stage. \nIndian society there are Four Stages of Life: \nBrahmacharya (Studentship) (Age 0-25)\, \nGrihastha (Householder) (Age 26-50)\, \nVanaprastha (Forest-dweller) (Age 51-75) and \nSannyasa (Renunciate Monk) (Age 76-100). \nIn the Vanaprastha Stage of Life\, traditionally\, people begin to downsize\, renounce their possessions\, take a vow of celibacy\, and devote themselves to spiritual practices and service to the community. \nPandit Tejomaya has taken the Vanaprastha Vow and is the perfect person to help guide those who have retired from the marketplace and are looking for ways to enhance the remainder of their lives. \nPandit Tejomaya was born as Timothy Bruns in Rochester\, Minnesota. He aspired to a spiritual life from an early age and\, in the lineage of his upbringing\, became a monk in the Dominican Order of Preachers. But\, the hand of the Guru closed that door for him and slowly opened another. Pandit Tejomaya had studied philosophy at the University of Minnesota while Swami Veda was on the faculty but did not meet him. He studied yoga for many years in Minnesota but never learned of the Meditation Center. It was not until moving to Canada\, with the gentle renouncing of career and homeland\, that he was exposed to the teachings of the Guru Lineage. Pandit Tejomaya received mantra initiation from Swami Veda in 2007 and was initiated as a pandit in 2012. He now lives a simple life of sadhana on Lasqueti Island in British Columbia\, Canada. \n\nSunday Community Gathering (Satsang)\nSunday Satsang sessions are informal gatherings of people who are interested in refining their meditative practices and their lifestyles following the teachings of the Himalayan Yoga Tradition. \nSenior Teachers Jim Nelson and Michael Smith host each session: \n\nMeet from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon\n45-minute Guided Meditation\nPresentation and a Discussion\n\nThere are some Sundays when Sunday Satsang is not held or when other events and presentations replace the Sunday Satsang sessions. When that occurs\, we try to notify all interested people in advance on The Meditation Center website. \nTo receive personal email announcements from Michael about the status of the Sunday Satsang sessions and/or the focus of the week’s offerings\, please call The Meditation Center office at 612-379-2386.

DESCRIPTION:“Ten Years with the Tradition: A Reflection on the Path” with Nic Klein\n  \n \nIt’s hard to believe I met Swami Veda and family in the Summer of 2009 and received mantra initiation that same summer.  With my 10-year (or is it 10\,000?) anniversary approaching I will share the stories\, insights\, and paradoxes of my spiritual journey with the Himalayan Tradition. \nNic Klein is an initiate of the Himalayan Tradition and is currently completing his doctorate in psychology at the University of St. Thomas.  For the past 10 years he has been secretly trying to teach yoga to everyone he meets.  He lectures at The Meditation Center once or twice a year\, but has been lecturing himself for the past 38 years\, an annoying habit he is trying to stop. \n  \nAll are welcome! DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang – May 9\, 2019\n“Lessons Along The Path”\nwith Rodney (Rajni) and Joann Huff\nEven with the many wonderful teachings available\, spiritual growth still requires constant experimentation with our mind\, body\, breath and emotions to stay balanced\, tranquil and happy. We’ll discuss some of the techniques that have been helpful for me\, and some stumbling blocks I’ve encountered along the way. We’ll also talk about the power of our attitudes. Since then he has traveled to India to study at Sadhana Mandir and Sadhaka Grama in Rishikesh. He began teaching Hatha yoga in 2003 and has been a regular teacher of Hatha Yoga (I & II) as well as Meditation I. Rodney is grateful for the opportunity to teach at a place as special as the Meditation Center. SUMMARY:Mothers' Day Sunday Tea with Swami Radha Bharati\, 10:00am - Noon
DESCRIPTION:Mothers’ Day Sunday Tea with Swami Radha Bharati\n10:00am – Noon\n\n\n..Women possess a unique magic.  As women we are able to call forth life from the other side\, and cultivate that life in the quiet space below our hearts.  Within our bodies we hold an opening to the divine\, a portal that allows souls to enter into this world.\n(From “Sacred Instructions: Indigenous Wisdom for Living Spirit-Based Change” by Sherri Mitchell\, page 121)\n\nEveryone has a biological mother. There is no other way for a soul desiring life in this world to enter but through a mother’s womb. Mothers not only nurture life into being; but they also protect the life that they have brought forth.  Swami Rama says there is no finer example of love than how a mother selflessly nurtures\, protects and cares for that life.  No matter who the mother is\, what the conditions are or where in the world she is\, a mother\, even if flawed\, will nurture and protect her young. It is in recognition of this truth that we honor our mothers on Mother’s Day.\n\nTea and coffee cake will be served.\n\n\n  \n\n\nThere will be no Sunday Satsang on May 12th.

SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang: "Open Mind\, Open Heart\, Open Will\, Open Access to the Divine” with Dr. Paul R. Scheele - May 16\, 2019
DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang – May 16\, 2019\n“Open Mind\, Open Heart\, Open Will\, Open Access to the Divine” with Dr. Paul R. Scheele\n  \nWho we are is “Ever Free\, Ever Pure\, Ever Wise.” Think of these as our spiritual gifts of Free Will\, Pure Heart\, and Wise Mind. It is our divine nature to feel and express these natural qualities. However\, three fears of insufficiency commonly impede our realization of our true nature. Those fears are carefully guarded by the ego\, so that they remain hidden from others and keep us from feeling vulnerable. When the brain and mind work together\, you can cast off the fears and re-assign the protector duty of the ego to facilitate spiritual liberation. \nPaul R. Scheele\, Ph.D. is CEO of Scheele Learning Systems\, and co-founder of Learning Strategies Corporation. He is author of Drop Into Genius\, and Natural Brilliance. He is also co-author of Meditate with the Himalayan Masters\, with Swami Veda Bharati. Paul has been meditating in the Himalayan Tradition since 1973 and helped create the Association of Himalayan Yoga Meditation Societies International in Rishikesh\, India\, in 2007. \nAll are welcome! One such lesser-known system is laya yoga which is the yoga of dissolution. It guides aspirants to dissolve the grosser parts of their being into the more subtle parts and eventually into their true nature of pure consciousness.”\n\n[divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=””]\nEric has been teaching meditation and yoga for over ten years. His teaching is based on the experiences that he had while immersed in a meditative environment.
