DESCRIPTION:Ayurveda and Vedic Astrology: Astrology as a Sister Science\nwith Gary and Cynthia Gran\nJuly 13\, 2024\n10:00 a.m. – Noon\nCost $25.00\n\n	\n\n\nRegister here.\n\n	\n\n\nPlease join us as we explore the relationship between Vedic Astrology\, Ayurveda\, and Yoga. Our main focus will be Vedic Astrology\, also known as the Eye of the Vedas\, or Jyotish\, the Science of Light. The interrelated disciplines of yoga\, astrology and Ayurveda are founded on the holistic principle that everything in the external universe has a counterpart in our internal universe – the macrocosm and the microcosm. \n  \nyad brahmande tat pinde\, yat pinde tad brahmande: \n“Whatever is in the universe is in the body; \nwhatever is in the body is in the universe.” \n\nIn this session\, we will explore the practical aspects of: \n\nJyotish as the science of time\, space and causation.\nOur astrological birth chart as a snapshot of our karma.\nHow the birth chart can provide insight into our Ayurvedic type and our health issues.\nThe inner or yogic practice of astrology.\nThe relationship of astrology and the chakras.\n\nAs we reflect on the profound connection between our inner world and the outer world\, our goal will be to move towards greater balance and harmony with Life. May all be well. May all know peace. \n  \n“Why are the sun\, moon\, and stars constantly on the move?   \nIf you know the purpose of their movement\, then move in harmony with them.   \n            If you do not know\, move in harmony with them still\, for by doing so\, one day you will know the purpose.” \n~ Swami Rama ~ \n  \nAll are welcome for this fun and informative session\, as we share and ponder the teachings of the sages together. \nGary & Cynthia Gran have been treading the Himalayan path since the late 1970s. They met at the old Glenview Center in Illinois and have served the tradition in various capacities over the years. They are both certified yoga teachers and Ayurvedic educators. His stated purpose in offering these seminars was to ensure that his students were well-informed on the practices of the tradition. Proceeds from these seminars helped fund the opening of the Himalayan Institute Hospital in Dehradun\, India. According to the HIHT website: \n“Swamiji started this project in 1989 with an outpatient clinic of only two rooms. The hospital at HIHT currently has 750 beds and is serving approximately 10 million people of Garhwal\, Kumaon and adjoining areas.” \nThe 1989 lectures were given at the Sheraton Hotel in Northbrook\, Illinois over the course of three days\, August 18-20. He offered many intriguing tips to refine our standard practices. But the primary focus was to present what he called ‘the monastery system’ of meditation\, with an emphasis on third chakra practice and solar science. \n“You don’t need to be still like a log – you are a living being!” – Swami Rama \nGary Gran has been treading the Himalayan path since the late 1970s. He was in attendance for the 1986\,1987 & 1989 Path of Fire & Light seminars\, and will be presenting a recollection of the 1989 teachings from his personal notes.  He has served the tradition in various capacities over the years beginning at the old Glenview center in Illinois. He is a certified yoga teacher and an Ayurvedic educator\, having published more than eighty articles on yoga\, meditation and Ayurveda. He and herself Cynthia enjoy desert gardening\, cooking and hiking at their home in Tucson\, Arizona\, and are currently in summer residence in Minneapolis. \nGary Gran\, MBA\, DAy. CYT \n

Our goal will be to move towards greater balance and harmony with Life. May all be well.
