SUMMARY:"Five Pillars of Sadhana" with Cynthia Gran via Zoom on Tuesday: June 9\, 2026\,    6:00-7:30pm
DESCRIPTION:In coordination with HYMC Palatine….\n“Five Pillars of Sadhana” with Cynthia Gran via Zoom\nTuesday: June 9\, 2026\n 6:00-7:30pm\nCost: $20.00\nRegister here\nBased on the pamphlet of the same name written by Swami Veda Bharati in 1997\, the “Five Pillars of Sadhana” are some of the most important concepts for those treading the path of meditation. They bring us into a better understanding of ourselves\, and they help us deepen our efforts both on retreat and in daily life. These concepts will be presented as in the book\, but also with an ayurvedic perspective on what trips us up\, preventing us from our fullest expression of our true nature. \nCynthia Gran\, DAy\, E-RYT 500\, YACEP\,  has been treading the Himalayan path since the late 1970s. Cynthia and her husband\, Gary\, DAy. CYT\, first attended the old Glenview Center in Illinois where they met and have served the tradition in various capacities over the years. They are both certified yoga teachers and Ayurvedic educators. They have published more than eighty articles on yoga\, meditation and Ayurveda.  They are currently in Minnesota for the summer  teaching at The Meditation Center. They enjoy desert gardening\, cooking and hiking at their home in Tucson\, Arizona.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:43rd Annual 40-Day Spiritual Festival 2026 from June 19-July 29 (Guru Purnima)\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:43rd Annual 40-Day Spiritual Festival 2026\nJune 19- July 29 (Guru Purnima)\, 2026\n  \nAnnual Festival of Spiritual Peace\n~ Swami Ritavan Bharati~\nThrough the living presence of Swami Veda here in Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama\, we are inspired to return “home” to the theme of “Vasudeva”. This theme holds many gems of sadhana practiced as the Annual 40-Day Festival of Spiritual Peace. \nDuring this forty day period we all have an opportunity for celebrating the prosperity that sadhana brings. The prospering of sadhana means that there is greater peace in everyone’s mind. Only peace in individual minds can bring peace in the world. Therefore\, let our striving and endeavor for internal peace be an unceasing one; spread it wide; enlarge the circle of those who feel and contemplate such peaceful ways of living. That is the only way for world peace. \nEnjoy this immersion in sadhana during the festival celebration of Spiritual Peace. \n(Courtesy of AHYMSIN\,org \n\n	\n\n\nRead here “43rd Annual 40-Days Spiritual Festival\, June 19-July 29\, 2026″ courtesy of AHYMSIN.org. \nThe festival is 40-days of purification of all aspects of our being through chosen practices. \nSome options for practices are : \nBegin or increase the Sangha “Vasudevaya’  mantra japa…Decrease screen time\, especially in the evening; put down the phone\, turn off the computer. \nFind ways to honor Earth Mother: walk in silence in the woods\, feed the wild animals\, nourish the ants\, pick up trash in nature\, contemplate one of the five elements in nature. \nFast one day a week\, could be partial fasting or simply eliminating one preferred food item. \nContemplate that which helps you be still. \nDo self-study and journal your experiences. \nStudy “Sutra 1.33\,” the Brahma Viharas\, especially Upeksha (equanimity in the face of evil.

SUMMARY:Meditation and Contemplation in Classic Indian Philosophies: An introductory look. Taught by Paul Emerson Ph.D. Five-Week Series: June 23 - July 21\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:Meditation and Contemplation in Classic Indian Philosophies:\nAn introductory look\nTaught by Paul Emerson Ph.D.\nFive-Week Series: June 23 – July 21\, 2026\nIn Person and Via Zoom\n6:30-8:00 p.m.\nCost: $60.00\nRegister here\nPhilosophy is a description of experience. When we have an experience we create a philosophy when we attempt to explain it to ourselves or others. The Indian culture and practices of introspection and rituals gave birth to a number of classical philosophies–each of which have slightly different flavors of meditation and contemplation. While the subject area is certainly vast it may be helpful to spend some time thinking about some of these areas as we develop our own philosophical explanations of meditation. \nWithin these five weeks we will spend some time with the Vedic\, Samkhya-Yogic\, Vedantic\, Tantric\, and possibly Bhaktic traditions\, discussing the basic texts and attempting some of the key practices.     . \n. \nPaul Emerson is a biomedical engineer with a Ph.D. He is the authority on the physiology of breathing for The Meditation Center and has been teaching yoga for over 30 years. Paul has worked as a research scientist\, has been a manager of clinical research with a major biomedical company and a university instructor. In addition\, he holds eight patents in the areas of dialysis and sleep therapy. he is a scholar of ancient yoga texts. Paul was certified by the Rockford School of Yoga and began teaching in 1975.
