He has also been certified by the Himalayan Institute Teachers Association and the Behram Guard School of Yoga Meditation (an Iyengar-based Hatha Yoga School). He was a public school teacher for 35 years and also a professor of Comparative Religion at North Hennepin Community College. He has edited and/or illustrated several books on yoga and has lectured widely on stress management (the topic of his Masters Thesis) and also on holistic health. DESCRIPTION:  \nPresented by: Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Milwaukee\, Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Center Palatine\, \nand The Meditation Center Minneapolis \n\nSession 3 has been cancelled\n3-Part\nPractical Yoga Sutras Series Pada I (Samadhi Pada)\nwith Dr. Dale Buegel\nMarch 8\, April 12\, and May 10\, 2025.\nMay 10\, 2025 – Part III\nThis 3-part series of workshops will focus on the practices needed to experience the states of awareness described in the Samadhi Pada\, the first book of the Yoga Sutras. These workshops will be presented from the viewpoint of a practitioner rather than the usual scholarly commentary of most publications regarding this ancient text. This is expected to be an ongoing series eventually covering all four books of the Yoga Sutras. \n$30 for each workshop session\nRegister here for a single session – May 10\, 2025.\nThis class is being offered both in-person and via Zoom. \nA link to the Zoom recording will be sent the day after the event to all who register. \nDr. Buegel was a student of Swami Rama and has practiced and taught hatha yoga and meditation for over 40 years in seminars\, teacher training programs and specialty workshops. His expertise in the fine points of yoga techniques has earned him the respect and appreciation of students in the U.S. and abroad. He is certified by yoga Alliance E-RYT 500\, YACEP.

For the tantric sadakha\, the world\, a manifestation of the Divine Mother\, serves as the means to enlightenment. The Samayan tantric does not make the world disappear\, he or she makes it transparent to reveal the Infinite One\, which is our own true Self. Life is not meant for “no’s”\, but it must be free of materialism\, the attachment to energetic forms\, particularly those of the mind. This is a necessary step in our Samaya tradition. In these next four sessions\, we explore the principles and practices necessary to be free\, to actually live the beautiful song of life that Guru Dev Swami Rama demonstrated with his example and teachings. \nSession 1: Natural Happiness – May 21 \nA spiritual journey is best understood as the uncovering of natural happiness\, or what in our tradition is called ananda. In this session we explore the nature of genuine and natural happiness\, and how to experience this as our true identity. \nSession 2: Mind: Master or Tool? – June 18 \nIn this session we explore the veil between you and the Reality of Sat – Chit- Ananda. Our thoughts and beliefs can be either a power for expansion or a tyranny of contraction. The key lies not only in our understanding the nature of mind\, but also how to effortlessly direct the mind rather than struggle to control it. \nSession 3: The Kama Kala: The Sacred Triangle – July 16 \nIn this session we explore the tantric sacred triangle of power and delight\, the Kama Kala. Knowing how to access and utilize your will\, knowledge \, and action provides the certain path to enlightenment. \nSession: Samaya: The Inner Path – August 20 \nWe each must find our unique path to freedom. Gurudev led us in the inner path (Samaya) where all practices are internal. While the external (Kaula) and middle (Mishra) paths are often the starting point\, eventually we must turn totally inwards. Understanding your unique strengths and weaknesses is essential for success in your inward journey. \n\n	\n\n\nPhil Nuernberger\, Ph.D. is a direct disciple of H.H. Sri Swami Rama and was personally trained by Swamiji since 1970. Dr. Phil is one of the few Americans to receive initiation by Swami Rama into the highest levels of the tantric tradition of the Himalayan Sages. With his Master’s instruction and blessing\, Dr. Phil has been teaching and initiating others in this tradition since 1972. He was instrumental in helping Swamiji build the Himalayan Institute\, and served on its Board of Directors until 1992. \nDr. Nuernberger is author of six books. The most recent are Eternal Self \, Freedom’s Path: The Dancing Soul\, The Warrior Sage: Life as Spirit\, as well as\, Strong and Fearless: The Quest for Personal Power and From Loneliness to Love: A Journey of Spiritual Awakening. \n

Among the first teachers certified by the Himalayan International Teachers’ Association\, H.I.T.A.\, he began teaching hatha-yoga in 1974. Stoma is a Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level of the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500). A member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists\, he serves on the faculties of the Meditation Center in Minneapolis and the Sadhanamandir and Sadhaka Gram ashrams in Rishikesh\, India. \nHe is also a senior faculty member of the Himalayan Yoga Tradition Teachers’ Training Program. He has lectured on yoga\, meditation\, and spiritual practice in the U.S. and Canada as well as in Caribbean countries\, Holland\, Italy\, Austria\, Hungary\, South Africa\, Korea\, Hong Kong\, and India. In 2004 he helped originate and teach the first course on yoga in an American medical school at the University of Minnesota Academic Medical Center. In 2007 he received took preliminary vows of renunciation from Swami Veda and the Shankaracharya of Karvirapitha. \nStoma has been a licensed psychologist in private practice in St. Paul\, MN since 1985. He also served as Adjunct Assistant School Professor of Counseling and Psychological Services at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis\, MN. He has taught on the faculty of the Introductory Workshops of the Minnesota Society of Clinical Hypnosis. In addition to authoring journal articles and book chapters\, Dr. Parker edited volume two of Swami Veda’s definitive scholarly work on the “Yoga-sutras of Patanjali” and he has been a peer review editor for the “Journal of Men’s Studies\,” the “American Journal of Orthopsychiatry\,” and the “International Journal of Yoga Therapy.” \n  \nTo support the work of The Meditation Center and register you can donate here or make a general donation by clicking on the “donate” button on the “Support TMC” website page.
