SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang via Zoom: "Love in the Yoga-Sutra - Where is It?" with Salvatore Zambito - June 17\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang via Zoom – June 17\, 2021\n“”Love in the Yoga-Sutra – Where is It?””\nwith Salvatore Zambito\n7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.\n7:00 p.m. – Meditation with Swami Radha Bharati\n7:30 p.m. – Talk with Salvatore Zambito\n  \n\nTo receive the zoom link for this event\, please subscribe \nto The Meditation Center’s e-newsletter on the home page of this website.\nA Message from Salvatore…”The title of my Thursday talk is: Love in the Yoga-Sutra – Where is it?  This is based on a conversation I had with Swami Veda in 2006 on completion of my first 40-day Silence. In Silence practice\, reading is either eliminated or very restricted. My reading was restricted to the Yoga-Sutra. One thing I noticed was that the term love does not appear in this text. I asked Swamiji about this and I will share his response.\n\nSalvatore Zambito is a well-known mystic\, rogue scholar\, and world-traveling recluse. In 1967\, while a sophomore in college\, Salvatore discovered hatha yoga and massage. This was the beginning of his active and very personal body mind research in transpersonal psychology and anatomical kinesiology. \n\n\n\n\n\nHe began his exploration of yoga as a student of Hatha Yoga with the Sivananda Yoga Centers in Chicago and Val Morin\, Canada. He was gently coerced into becoming a teacher in 1969. The Yoga-Sutra of Patañjali entered his life in 1969. \nThrough the years\, Salvatore has established several yoga centers in America and taught yoga related subjects at institutes and universities around the world. From 1980 to 1986 he taught Yoga and Stress Management at Boise State University. During this period\, he also served as BSU’s Chief of the Anatomical Kinesiology Laboratory\, where he directed cadaver dissection and prosection\, and served as a teaching assistant. He provided stress management consultation to the Boise business community and taught stress management strategies at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise and Mercy Medical Center in Nampa\, Idaho. \nSalvatore always looks for interesting areas to explore. In 1980 he researched\, proposed and administered one of the first two national pilot programs for the application of Hatha Yoga as a functional improvement and comfort modality for Multiple Sclerosis. He administered the program for several years. \nIn 1988\, Salvatore’s research finally took him to India\, where he lived for two years. To his surprise\, he found himself teaching in ashrams and universities there. Salvatore returns to India regularly to study and teach. \nSalvatore is the author of The Unadorned Thread of Yoga: The Yoga-Sūtra of Patañjali in English\, which presents each of the 196 sūtras\, with text analysis and twelve authoritative translations. \nIn addition to his expertise in yoga\, Salvatore is a structural bodyworker in the Rolfing tradition and a licensed massage therapist in the State of Washington. He has created a 400-hour course of bodywork instruction (Dimensional Integration™) accredited through IMSTAC (International Massage and Somatic Therapies Accrediting Council). His years of yogic breathwork\, hands-on bodywork and cadaver dissection led to The Wind of Life\, a workshop that addresses the dimensions of human respiration. This set of seminars provides techniques to open and balance the respiratory capsule through movement education and manual therapeutic facilitation. \nSalvatore is the founder of the Yoga-Sūtras Institute. His teaching areas span meditation\, the Yoga-Sūtras of Patañjali\, anatomy\, kinesiology\, and physiology. He is on staff at several yoga centers and ashrams around the world. \nSalvatore lives with his wife\, dogs\, and a flock of pampered chickens on a tiny hobby farm in western Washington State. \nBio courtesy of The Yoga Sutras Institute. \n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:There Will be no Full Moon Havan tonight - Join us for a Full Moon Meditation from 9:00– 10:00 p.m. CDT on May 26\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, May 26\, 2021\nThere will be no Full Moon Havan Tonight!\nMark your calendars\nfor a Special Havan Program\non Thursday\, June 24\, 2021\nwith Emilio Bettaglio.\n\nStay tuned for details.\n\nFull Moon Meditation from 9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. CDT\n\nJoin Swami Ritavan Bharati for the Full Moon Meditation\n\nSwami Ritavan invites you to join us for a group meditation starting at 9 o’clock in the evening.  Meditate wherever you are at that time.\n\n\n\nSpecial Message from Swami Ritavan Bharati\n“Full Moon Meditation”\n\nIn meditation\, we gather in the spirit of Guru’s grace\, light of knowledge\, and with aspirations for kindness (amity)\, compassion (karuna)\, our task remains—Awake and Aware. Aware of our inner strength as our natural state of personality. Awake through self-observation\, through neutrality\, through conscious choice. Our identification with this essential nature reveals the strong\, the pure\, the beauty-that is our divine nature. Through a certain restraint\, we become a conqueror. Our task\, through our sadhana in applied spirituality\, is greater understanding\, not only of what is right with the world but how the beauty of that which is right can be applied to beautify in what has become “ugly” in so many ways. And\, it is the “I”of ego–me and mine\, that harbor negative emotions\, conflicts\, and criticisms that veil and obscure beauty. Remember\, it is the nature of our divine personality that animates forces to maintain calm\, peaceful\, harmonious\, and conflict-free minds within\, and in those around us in ever-expanding circles of influence. Be the Light of Love that you seek.

SUMMARY:AGING AS A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY: Expanding the Box of Unlived Life - A series of three workshops with Randall Krause
DESCRIPTION:“AGING AS A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY: Expanding the Box of Unlived Life”\nwith Randall Krause\nA series of three workshops\n Saturdays: May 15\, June 12\, and July 10\, 2021\nCost for the series: $60.00\n\nLimited to 16 participants.\n\nRegister here\n\n\nFirst Workshop: May 15\, 2021 \nIn this first workshop in the series\, we will begin the process of life review and begin of harvesting from our past experiences. This will be a highly interactive workshop in which you’ll have a chance to mine your earlier life for golden wisdom.\n\nSecond Workshop: June 12\, 2021 \nIn this second workshop in the series\, we will begin re-contextualizing and healing painful memories and forgiveness\n\nThird Workshop: July 10\, 2021\nIn this third workshop in the series we will begin discussion facing our mortality and creating a legacy.\nSage-ing offers a new vision of aging as a time for deep reflection and spiritual growth and invites us to nourish and integrate our whole self—body\, mind\, emotions and spirit. As people grow into old-age\, they often feel uncomfortable remembering their past—which may include memories of failures and relationships gone wrong—and they may also feel uncomfortable looking into the future because death is approaching\, and so they shrink their lives down smaller and smaller. It’s as if they live in a little box and cut off all the rest of their life force. Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi\, the founder of the Sagi-ing work\, called this contraction of life the “box of unlived life.” A major part of the Sage-ing work focused on expanding the box of unlived life through life review\, harvesting wisdom\, recontextualizing past experiences\, forgiveness\, and facing our mortality. \nThis series of three workshops will focus on this work and beyond. The workshops are in a series so that we will have a committed group working together to support one another in this work and maximize the benefits. We will go deeply into each step of the work so you can make progress in your Sage-ing process. \nI hope you’ll join us. \nRandall Krause served as an attorney\, a mediator\, a life coach\, and a yoga teacher. He is a senior mentor and senior teacher in the Himalayan Yoga Meditation Tradition. For many years\, he ran a multi-million dollar business. Now retired from that business and well into his sixties\, Randall is an Intern in the Sage-ing International Certified Sage-ing Leader Training program.

You may be surprised as we explore the different ways of thinking and experiencing the vimarsha power of the Infinite One. There are different ways to access this svatantrya (absolute freedom) of the Infinite One. Let’s explore! Bring your insights; experiences; and questions to this satsang.\n\n\nPhil Nuernberger\, Ph.D. is a direct disciple of H.H. Sri Swami Rama and was personally trained by Swamiji since 1970. Dr. Phil is one of the few Americans to receive initiation by Swami Rama into the highest levels of the tantric tradition of the Himalayan Sages. With his Master’s instruction and blessing\, Dr. Phil has been teaching and initiating others in this tradition since 1972. He was instrumental in helping Swamiji build the Himalayan Institute\, and served on its Board of Directors until 1992. \n\n\nDr. Nuernberger is author of six  books. The most recent are  Eternal Self \,  Freedom’s Path: The Dancing Soul\, The Warrior Sage: Life as Spirit\, as well as\, Strong and Fearless: The Quest for Personal Power and From Loneliness to Love: A Journey of Spiritual Awakening\n\nEternal Self provides an insightful look at both the depth and breadth of Tantra Science and its powerful and timely application to modern life. A spiritual science based in experimentation\, replication\, and verification. Tantra science provides the methods and knowledge to live fearlessly and successfully in the world with inner strength and compassion and to experience the Infinite Self that is the foundation of all humanity. Eternal Self explores the full realization of our humanity\, and describes the foundation for a spiritual humanism through specific methods of Tantra science for both transformation and transcendence. This life\, this time\, is the opportunity to become fully human\, free of the ego-self and all its self-created miseries. May the reader enjoy what is beautiful in the world.” (Swami Veda Bharati)\n\n“This needs to be our handbook for these times of discord and conflict on so many levels.” (Swami Ritavan Bharati)\n\n__________________________________\n\nThe Human Urge for Peace:\nWhat’s Right with the World\nby\nSwami Veda Bharati\n\nDrawing on myriad examples gathered from his lifelong travels around the globe\, Swami Veda – a teacher of yoga and meditation and tireless peace advocate – offers a visionary plan to create and sustain lasting peace in the world.\n\nHe invites his readers on a spiritual journey\, to free their minds from internal conflict using contemplative methods common to all religions and then to join in bringing education for peace into the family\, schools and colleges\, the workplace\, and ultimately a global confederation of cultures\, nations and religions.\n_________________________________\n\nThe Human Urge for Peace: What is Right with the World takes readers on a marvelous journey through time and space to observe how people of many different cultures and religions manage to live peaceably and equably together.\n\nExamples are provided where communities with two religious or ethnic groups\, even in war-torn countries like India and Pakistan\, respect or even share holy sites and celebrations. Swami Veda identifies the common threads shared by all religions past and present\, especially the contemplative traditions of silence and meditation whereby the mind is trained to become calm and free of conflict\, and he suggests ways that religious leaders and educators can train parents and students alike to maintain calm\, peaceful\, harmonious and conflict-free minds.\n\nSwami Veda invites readers to “Give way to our natural human urges –the urge to give\, the urge to share\, the urge to make sacrifice for others\, the urge to knowledge\, the natural urge to peace. ” This is “ what is right with the world.”\n\nEnough has been said about what is wrong. It is true that much work needs to be done before the conflicts that lead to violence and war cease to arise\, in individuals\, ethnic groups\, religions or nations\, but the path toward peace is one of looking for positive examples\, both past and present\, and emulating them.\n\nIn the final chapter Swami Veda outlines his proposal for a World Council of Ethics and Peace and gives his recommendations for instituting planet-wide educatio for ethical conduct and peace.\n_________________________________\n\nSwami Veda asks religious leaders to honor their commonalities with other religions and separate themselves from “divisive concepts binding ethnicity and religion”which may be used to create dissension and increase hatred.\n\n\n\nSwami Veda invites readers to “Give way to our natural human urges – the urge to give\, the urge to share\, the urge to make sacrifice for others\, the urge to knowledge\, the natural urge to peace.” This is “what is right with the world.”\n\nEnough has been said about what is wrong.
