SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang via Zoom: "Introduction to the 40-Day Spiritual Festival 2021 - June 10\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang via Zoom – June 10\, 2021\n“Introduction to the 40-Day Spiritual Festival 2021\nJune 15 – July 24\, 2021\n 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. CDT\nTo receive the zoom link for this event\, please subscribe  to The Meditation Center’s e-newsletter \non the home page of this website.\n7:00 p.m.: Meditation with Swami Radha Bharati\n7:30- 8:30 p.m.: Introduction to the 2021 40-Day Spiritual Festival\n8:30 p.m.: Evening Prayers\nJoin us on June 1oth for an introduction and  interactive discussion of the theme for this year’s spiritual festival. \n\n\nEach summer during the 40 days that precede Guru Purnima\, students in the Himalayan tradition are invited to participate in the 40-Day Spiritual Festival\, to expand and refine their sadhanas. This year the 40-Day Festival will begin on June 15th and will end on July 24th\, which is Guru Purnima.\n\n\nIt is a time to contemplate (and talk with others about) the ways you can participate.\n\n“We are all here for a purpose; it is an on-going spiritual process. We are all here for spiritual liberation and serving that mission. For that purpose we are purifying ourselves of our pride and ego. For these reasons we train ourselves in constant self-observation: to see oneself\, to hear oneself to develop this internal dialogue. I have used one criterion for all my thoughts\, my words\, and my actions: ‘Is this conducive to spiritual liberation.'” – Swami Veda.\n\n\n

SUMMARY:There Will be no Full Moon Havan tonight - Join us for a Full Moon Meditation from 9:00– 10:00 p.m. CDT on May 26\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, May 26\, 2021\nThere will be no Full Moon Havan Tonight!\nMark your calendars\nfor a Special Havan Program\non Thursday\, June 24\, 2021\nwith Emilio Bettaglio.\n\nStay tuned for details.\n\nFull Moon Meditation from 9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. CDT\n\nJoin Swami Ritavan Bharati for the Full Moon Meditation\n\nSwami Ritavan invites you to join us for a group meditation starting at 9 o’clock in the evening.  Meditate wherever you are at that time.\n\n\n\nSpecial Message from Swami Ritavan Bharati\n“Full Moon Meditation”\n\nIn meditation\, we gather in the spirit of Guru’s grace\, light of knowledge\, and with aspirations for kindness (amity)\, compassion (karuna)\, our task remains—Awake and Aware. Aware of our inner strength as our natural state of personality. Awake through self-observation\, through neutrality\, through conscious choice. Our identification with this essential nature reveals the strong\, the pure\, the beauty-that is our divine nature. Through a certain restraint\, we become a conqueror. Our task\, through our sadhana in applied spirituality\, is greater understanding\, not only of what is right with the world but how the beauty of that which is right can be applied to beautify in what has become “ugly” in so many ways. And\, it is the “I”of ego–me and mine\, that harbor negative emotions\, conflicts\, and criticisms that veil and obscure beauty. Remember\, it is the nature of our divine personality that animates forces to maintain calm\, peaceful\, harmonious\, and conflict-free minds within\, and in those around us in ever-expanding circles of influence. Be the Light of Love that you seek.

SUMMARY:AGING AS A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY: Expanding the Box of Unlived Life - A series of three workshops with Randall Krause
DESCRIPTION:“AGING AS A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY: Expanding the Box of Unlived Life”\nwith Randall Krause\nA series of three workshops\n Saturdays: May 15\, June 12\, and July 10\, 2021\nCost for the series: $60.00\n\nLimited to 16 participants.\n\nRegister here\n\n\nFirst Workshop: May 15\, 2021 \nIn this first workshop in the series\, we will begin the process of life review and begin of harvesting from our past experiences. This will be a highly interactive workshop in which you’ll have a chance to mine your earlier life for golden wisdom.\n\nSecond Workshop: June 12\, 2021 \nIn this second workshop in the series\, we will begin re-contextualizing and healing painful memories and forgiveness\n\nThird Workshop: July 10\, 2021\nIn this third workshop in the series we will begin discussion facing our mortality and creating a legacy.\nSage-ing offers a new vision of aging as a time for deep reflection and spiritual growth and invites us to nourish and integrate our whole self—body\, mind\, emotions and spirit. As people grow into old-age\, they often feel uncomfortable remembering their past—which may include memories of failures and relationships gone wrong—and they may also feel uncomfortable looking into the future because death is approaching\, and so they shrink their lives down smaller and smaller. It’s as if they live in a little box and cut off all the rest of their life force. Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi\, the founder of the Sagi-ing work\, called this contraction of life the “box of unlived life.” A major part of the Sage-ing work focused on expanding the box of unlived life through life review\, harvesting wisdom\, recontextualizing past experiences\, forgiveness\, and facing our mortality. \nThis series of three workshops will focus on this work and beyond. The workshops are in a series so that we will have a committed group working together to support one another in this work and maximize the benefits. We will go deeply into each step of the work so you can make progress in your Sage-ing process. \nI hope you’ll join us. \nRandall Krause served as an attorney\, a mediator\, a life coach\, and a yoga teacher. He is a senior mentor and senior teacher in the Himalayan Yoga Meditation Tradition. For many years\, he ran a multi-million dollar business. Now retired from that business and well into his sixties\, Randall is an Intern in the Sage-ing International Certified Sage-ing Leader Training program.

Swami Veda identifies the common threads shared by all religions past and present\, especially the contemplative traditions of silence and meditation whereby the mind is trained to become calm and free of conflict\, and he suggests ways that religious leaders and educators can train parents and students alike to maintain calm\, peaceful\, harmonious and conflict-free minds.\n\nSwami Veda invites readers to “Give way to our natural human urges –the urge to give\, the urge to share\, the urge to make sacrifice for others\, the urge to knowledge\, the natural urge to peace. ” This is “ what is right with the world.”\n\nEnough has been said about what is wrong. It is true that much work needs to be done before the conflicts that lead to violence and war cease to arise\, in individuals\, ethnic groups\, religions or nations\, but the path toward peace is one of looking for positive examples\, both past and present\, and emulating them.\n\nIn the final chapter Swami Veda outlines his proposal for a World Council of Ethics and Peace and gives his recommendations for instituting planet-wide educatio for ethical conduct and peace.\n_________________________________\n\nSwami Veda asks religious leaders to honor their commonalities with other religions and separate themselves from “divisive concepts binding ethnicity and religion”which may be used to create dissension and increase hatred.\n\n\n\nSwami Veda invites readers to “Give way to our natural human urges – the urge to give\, the urge to share\, the urge to make sacrifice for others\, the urge to knowledge\, the natural urge to peace.” This is “what is right with the world.”\n\nEnough has been said about what is wrong.

May the reader enjoy what is beautiful in the world.” (Swami Veda Bharati)\n\n“This needs to be our handbook for these times of discord and conflict on so many levels.” (Swami Ritavan Bharati)\n\n__________________________________\n\nThe Human Urge for Peace:\nWhat’s Right with the World\nby\nSwami Veda Bharati\n\nDrawing on myriad examples gathered from his lifelong travels around the globe\, Swami Veda – a teacher of yoga and meditation and tireless peace advocate – offers a visionary plan to create and sustain lasting peace in the world.\n\nHe invites his readers on a spiritual journey\, to free their minds from internal conflict using contemplative methods common to all religions and then to join in bringing education for peace into the family\, schools and colleges\, the workplace\, and ultimately a global confederation of cultures\, nations and religions.\n_________________________________\n\nThe Human Urge for Peace: What is Right with the World takes readers on a marvelous journey through time and space to observe how people of many different cultures and religions manage to live peaceably and equably together.\n\nExamples are provided where communities with two religious or ethnic groups\, even in war-torn countries like India and Pakistan\, respect or even share holy sites and celebrations.
