SUMMARY:Global Full  Moon Meditation In Person and via Zoom from Chicago\, February 24\, 2024\, 9:00-10:00p.m. CST
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, February 24\, 2024\nGlobal Full  Moon Meditation\nIn Person  and via Zoom\n9:00-10:00 P.M. CST\nThis Full Moon Meditation via Zoom will begin guided by Pandit Cabral followed by a silent meditation until 10:00 p.m.  In Minneapolis you can sit at The Meditation Center on Thursday\, January 18th.\nThis event is courtesy of the Chicago Himalayan Yoga & Meditation Center – HYMC. \nTo get the Zoom link and for more information aregarding the global full moon meditation schedule \nvisit HYMC’s website here. \n“You are lovingly invited to sit in meditation for an hour wherever you are\, in your home or with friends. Total beginners and longtime practitioners\, non-initiates and initiates are welcome. If you cannot sit for the entire hour\, sit as long as you are able; as Swami Veda has said\, ‘Let the quietness of the mind continue even after you rise..’” (Courtesy of AHYMSIN.org January 2023 newsletter). \nEveryone is welcome! \n“Yoga Philosophy views the mind as Universal field; its waves passing through us and becoming our individual minds. This Universal mind is a radiant force and is also known as a Universal Guru within.” \n“When all sit together at the same time even in different parts of the world\, they connect to the Universal Guru mind and generate a strong field\, like so many magnets being joined together and forming a much stronger magnet; the strength of each then equals the combined strength of all.” \n– Swami Veda Bharati –

SUMMARY:Maha Shivaratri Observance In Person and Via Zoom Friday\, March 8\, 2024 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
DESCRIPTION:Maha Shivaratri Observance In Person and Via Zoom\nFriday\, March 8\, 2024\n7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.\nShiva is the Lord of the meditator\, the very identity of the meditator. The earliest iconography in human history is a meditative one as divinity sitting in the meditative posture. It is the iconography of Shiva. It is that one by whose grace we are drawn to a life of renunciation to go up the mountain\, for he is the dweller of Mount Kailasha\, the dweller of the highest mountain within us; the head. From his matted hair\, the gushing river of inspiration \, knowledge and wisdom flows. The very river descends from the highest of the heavens\, comes right into our fontanel\, and from there flows downward into the seven worlds (chakras)\, the seven continents\, the seven oceans and becomes our very kundalini. That Shiva. To him I dedicate myself today and chant\, “OM NAMAH SHIVAYA” \nSwami Veda\, 1996 Shivaratri Address \nJoin Chris Young and Emilio Bettaglio at 7:oo p.m. on Friday\, the 8th\, for a Maha Shivaratri program of inward observation and contemplation. \n7:00 p.m: Introduction and brief outward physical puja with Chris and Emilio. \n7:30 p.m.: Swami Veda’s recording of Manas Puja (Internal Sacrifice) \n8:00 PM: Swami Veda’s recording of 1\,000 names of Shiva

SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang In Person and Via Zoom: "The Privilege of Praying" with Emilio Bettaglio - March 14\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang In Person and Via Zoom – March 14\, 2024\n“The Privilege of Praying”with Emilio Bettaglio\n7:00 – 8:30 p.m.\n  \n5:30-6:45 p.m.: Gentle Hatha Yoga with Sig Martell \n7:00-7:30 p.m.: Guided Meditation with Swami  Ma Radha Bharati \n7:30-8:30 p.m.: “The Privilege of Praying” with Emilio Bettaglio \n8:30 p.m.: Evening Prayers \n8:40 p.m.: Snacks \nJoin Emilio Bettaglio in a discussion regarding the privilege of praying. Bring your experiences regarding the effects and gifts of prayer in your own lives to share with the community. \nEmilio will read from Y.S. 1.33 the Brahma Viharas\, focusing on karuna\, compassion\, as a sentiment or trigger for prayer on someone’s behalf. He will read from Swami Veda’s writings on compassion. \nRegarding prayer\, Emilio will address the importance of mental and emotional preparation\, visualization\, and holding in one’s heart the specific reason for the prayer. \nThere will be a discussion regarding the “prayer circle” and possible alternative variations 0f it to use within one’s individual practice. And Emilio will discuss the practice of Tonglen in praying for others. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. Please bring your questions. \n  \n…Prayer gives you strength. The highest of strength is received from that source which is already within you\, through prayer. When you pray\, whom are you going to pray to? The God Almighty who is everywhere? No. The Lord who is within you\, seated deep down\, beyond your body\, breath and mind\, in the innermost chamber of your being. Your prayers are always answered\, when you pray in your own language\, with mind and emotion joined together\, with a one-pointed mind. You can pray at any time\, but you should learn to discipline yourself. Morning and evening hours are considered best for prayer. But as I told you\, pray directly to the Lord of life who’s seated within you. Gently close your eyes and with all your feelings and thoughts ask the Lord of life to give you wisdom and there you will find strength… \n(From Conscious Living by Swami Rama)

SUMMARY:Hybrid Thursday Satsang In Person Viewing at TMC and via Zoom: "Commentary on the 'Book of Revelation'" with Gary Gran\, CYT\, DAy - March 28\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Hybrid Thursday Satsang In Person Viewing at TMC and via Zoom – March 28\, 2024\n“Commentary on The Book of Revelation”\nwith Gary Gran CYT\, DAy\n7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.\n\n	\n\n\n5:30-6:45 p.m.: Gentle Hatha Yoga with Eric Ness\n7:00-7:30 p.m.: Guided Meditation by Swami Ma Radha Bharati\n7:30-8:30 p.m.: “Commentary on the Book of Revelation” with Gary Gran CYT\, DAy\n8:30 p.m.: Evening Prayers\n8:40 p.m.: Snacks\n\n\nThe rich imagery found in the last book of the Christian Bible has been interpreted and reinterpreted over the years through many lenses\, including various literal\, artistic\, symbolic\, and spiritual interpretations. \nIn 1982\, at the old Glenview Center of the Himalayan Institute\, Swami Rama gave a powerful commentary on the text from the yogic point of view. He described the Revelation or Apocalypse of John as a complete guidebook to the spiritual journey\, as one crosses the threshold from the rational mind to the unconscious mind and beyond to the eternal. It represents the highest initiation possible for mankind. \nPlease join us to hear the words that Swamiji spoke as we open and read from the Book of Revelation. All are welcome. \nJesus: “Those who have ears to hear\, let them hear.” \nSwami Rama: Revelation is “a universal revelation for humankind.” \nSwami Veda: “Revelation is a parable of the spiritual journey and the process of breakthrough and transformation. The passage from one ground to the next is often accompanied by a trial or tribulation. This passage could be from waking to sleeping\, waking to meditation\, living to dying\, or epoch to epoch…” \n\n\n	\n\n\nGary Gran\, CYT\, DAy.  was in attendance at the 1982 seminar and will be sharing the teachings from his personal notes. He and his wife Cynthia have been treading the Himalayan path since the late 1970s. They met at the old Glenview Center in Illinois and have served the tradition in various capacities over the years. They are both certified yoga teachers and Ayurvedic educators. They have published more than eighty articles on yoga\, meditation and Ayurveda.
