SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang In Person and Via Zoom: “The Wisdom Tradition: Yoga\, Christianity and the Divine Feminine” with Gary Gran\, CYT\, DAy. - August 15\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang In Person and Via Zoom\nThe Assumption of Mary – August 15\, 2024\n“The Wisdom Tradition: Yoga\, Christianity and the Divine Feminine”\nwith Gary Gran\, CYT\, DAy.\n7:00-8:30 p.m.\n  \n5:30-6:45 p.m.: In-Person Gentle Hatha Yoga with Michael Snodgrass \n7:00-8:00 p.m.: “The Wisdom Tradition: Yoga\, Christianity and the Divine Feminine” with Gary Gran CYT\, DAy. \n\n8:00-8:30p.m.: Meditation Guided by Swami Radha Bharati \n\n8:30 p.m.: Evening Prayers \nThe development of wisdom is a central theme in Christianity\, yoga\, Ayurveda and Buddhism\, with deep roots in ancient culture. Wisdom denotes a deep knowing\, a gnosis\, that comes from Silence. Our main theme on this night of the Assumption of Mary will be to trace the presence of Holy Mother Wisdom in the Christian scriptures. \nIn yoga science\, wisdom is called prajna. In the Buddhist tradition\, the Perfection of Wisdom is called Prajna-paramita. Ayurveda tells that to go against wisdom\, prajna-paradha\, is unwise! In the Jewish tradition\, wisdom is called Hokmah. And in ancient Greece\, wisdom was known as Sophia. Indeed\, the ancient philosophers were lovers of Wisdom\, Sophia being the root of the word philosophy. \nPlease join us for this prayerful reflection on our Mother Wisdom. \n“One who doesn’t know the beginningless sound of Wisdom\, the highest point of heaven where the gods dwell\, what do they know of Wisdom? \nOnly those who sit quietly with focused minds know this inner truth.” \nRig Veda 1.164.39 \n“Meditating on Her is understanding in its perfect form\, and anyone keeping awake for Her will soon be free from care.” Wisdom 6:15 \n“For in the end you will find rest in Her and She will take the form of joy for you.” Ecclesiasticus 6:28 \n ~ \n“God the Silence and Mother the Silence\, entwined … \nyou are rapt in listening. \nListen how they sing their listening… \nSerenade by you with vow to become a song sung to same entwined entity who\, since before locus and time\, has been ever serenading to you. \nIn mindfulness of ascending notes of symphonies breathing cadences of gnosis\, silence your serenade so it never ceases. Sing your silence that silence sing you. \nMay you be a song.” \n From Serenade God with a Song of Silence by Swami Veda Bharata \n~ \nGary Gran\, CYT\, DAy. \nGary first began to appreciate the depth of the Christian tradition when listening to Swami Rama\, Swami Veda\, and Swami Jaidev talk on the yogic interpretation of the Christian scriptures at the old Glenview center. \nGary and his wife Cynthia have been treading the Himalayan path since the 1970s. They met at the Glenview Center in Illinois and have served the tradition in various capacities over the years. They are both certified yoga teachers and Ayurvedic educators. They have published more than eighty articles on yoga\, meditation and Ayurveda. \nTo support the work of The Meditation Center and register you can donate here (suggested donation $15.00) for Thursday Satsang or make a general donation by clicking on the “donate” button on the “Support TMC” website page. \nOr donate through PayPal. \nNote: There is parking available for TMC visitors in the St. Boniface lot across the street from the Center.

SUMMARY:Full Moon Havan at TMC (Fire Ceremony) and Global Full Moon Meditation - August 19\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:“August Full Moon Havan”\nTMC’s Back Yard with Emilio Betagglio\nAugust 19\, 2024\n6:30—8:45 p.m\n\n	\n\n\n6:30-7:30 p.m. – Havan (Fire Ceremony)\n7:30-8:45 p.m. – Soup and Socializing\n9:00-10:00 p.m. – Global Full Moon Meditation\n\n	\n\n\nThe fire havan is an in-person only event. It will not be zoomed. \nThe dried twigs brought to TMC on Guru Purnima  will be offered to the fire tonight. \nYou can still bring a bundle of sticks tonight\, the evening of the havan. \nSome etiquette: The havan kunda\, fire pit\, is the shrine for the fire deity Agni and needs to be approached as such; having freshly cleansed\, with an open heart and mind\, and wearing clean clothes; no shoes close to the havan kunda. All offerings are made with the right hand and with a loving attitude of letting go and from the heart. Once seated for the ceremony\, it’s important to remain there until the conclusion. \nA Quote from Swami Rama \n“Best student is he who takes from the teacher—not he who gives. The scripture also tells you what you should give to your teacher. It is never said that you should give a large check\, your entire bank balance. No! You give dry twigs—a bundle of dry twigs to your teacher. That’s the symbol that “I have nothing to give you. You don’t need anything for yourself. I know I cannot do anything for you. These dry twigs represent my karmas. There are some samskaras which are very hard on me\, trouble me\, torture me. Will you please burn them?” Has he got power to do this? Yes. But it’s not his power. He uses the power of the tradition to help the student. It’s not his power.” \n  \nThese twigs are offered as food for Agni who will\, on behalf of the Lineage and the Guru force\, burn them and transmute what they represent into prayers. \nIn case you have not brought twigs to TMC and are interested in participating tonight\, there is still time to bring them. Drop them off at TMC today or in person this evening Prior to offering them\, Swami Radha will bless the twig bundles. \nMantras for the Havan (Fire Ceremony) \n21 recitations Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha \n108 recitations of Akhanda Mandala \n21 recitations of Saumya Taraa \n21 recitations Maha Mrityunjaya \n1 recitation of Purna Ahuti \nMantras available for print here. \nGlobal Full Moon Meditation\nMonday\, August 19\, 2024\nIn Person Viewing at TMC and Via Zoom\n9:00-10:00 p.m. CDT\nThis Global Full Moon Meditation will begin guided by Swami Radha Bharati flowing into a silent meditation until 10:00 p.m. \n

SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang In Person at TMC and via Zoom: Presentation of a Recorded Audio Talk by Dr. David Frawley at SRSG: "Ritual\, Sacred Space\, and Sacred Time" (the Timeless Presence) Introduction by Emilio Bettaglio and Michael Smith - September 5\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang In Person at TMC and via Zoom  – September 5\, 2025\nPresentation of a Recorded Audio Talk by Dr. David Frawley at SRSG:\n“Ritual\, Sacred Space\, and Sacred Time”\n(the Timeless Presence)\nIntroduction by Emilio Bettaglio and Michael Smith\n7:00-8:30 p.m. CDT\n\n	\n\n\n5:30-6:45 p.m.: In-Person Gentle Hatha Yoga\n7:00-8:00 p.m.: Presentation of a Recorded Talk by Dr. David Frawley at SRSG:\n“Ritual\, Sacred Space\, and Sacred Time”\n(the Timeless Presence)\nIntroduction by Emilio Bettaglio and Michael Smith\n8:00-8:30 p.m.: Meditation Guided by Swami Radha Bharati\n8:30 p.m.: Evening Prayers\n\n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us on Thursday\, September 5\, 2024 to hear Dr. David Frawley’s profound recorded talk. There will be time for discussion\, comments\, and questions. \nFrom Dr. Frawley’s 2013 talk \n“…as Swami Veda says\, the chitta-prasādana. And here “ritual” also means “right action\,” because action done with awareness becomes a ritual. And in this regard\, everything in the universe follows a certain organic rhythm or order\, which is a ritual\, and which also is a yajna(sacrifice) – or we can say\, creating the right lifestyle\, routine or rhythm to our lives. We have biological rituals\, like eating\, breathing and sleeping. Everything we do has some sort of ritual connection. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnd our yoga sādhana should also have its own ritual order. And ritual is also the foundation of the bhakti-yoga\, or the devotion. These actions done in worship of the deities become a ritual: mudrā (sacred gesture)\, pūjā\, yajna\, mantra\, the recitation the divine names. It has that ritualistic component where your action follows a certain structure designed to have a certain beauty…” \n…So it’s very important that we have that sacred dimension to what we do. And then here also [it is important to understand that] yoga only works in sacred space and sacred time. It does not work in chronological time\, and it doesn’t work in property\, you know\, space that is owned by somebody. So we need to create our own sacred space and our own sacred time in order to do the practice. And ritual is a way of creating sacred space and sacred time… \n  \nTo support the work of The Meditation Center and register you can donate here (suggested donation $15.00) for Thursday Satsang or make a general donation by clicking on the “donate” button on the “Support TMC” website page. \nOr donate through PayPal. \nNote: There is parking available for TMC visitors in the St. Boniface lot across the street from the Center. \n
