DESCRIPTION:Sunday Book Club/Satsang – September 11\, 2022\nwith Swami Radha Bharati\, Michael Smith\, and Jim Nelson from 10:00-11:30 am\n  \nTime:  10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m \n“Inspirations from Swami Veda” — This is an hour-long video of some of Swami Veda’s core teachings. Each segment is about 10 minutes long. After each session\, we will stop the video and discuss the things that Swamiji said as they apply to our own yoga practice. And\, if the group wishes\, we could give more time to any of Swami Veda’s specific teachings in later Book Club sessions. \n\nWe’re looking forward to welcoming new participants and reconnecting with old ones after the Summer Break. When the Book Club begins at 10:00\, we’ll come together and share what’s been happening over the past few months.\n\nUp ahead — Before Swami Veda took his 5-year Vow of Silence in 2013\, he strongly recommended that everyone study his book\, SADHANA IN APPLIED SPIRITUALITY — so this will most likely be the book that we will work with when we start rolling.\n

SUMMARY:Postponed until October - Sunday In-Person Meditation  I : Learning the Basics with Aaron Means\, Psy.D.\, September 11 – October 16\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:Postponed Until October: In-Person Meditation  I : Learning the Basics\nwith Aaron Means\, Psy.D.\nDates of Series:  New October/November dates to be determined. \nTime:  4:30 p.m. – 6:oop.m.\nInstructor : Aaron Means\, Psy.D.\nFee: $75.00\nAfter you register for this class\, you will receive the zoom link the day before the class begins.\nIf you would like to retake Meditation I at half the cost please email us at info@themeditatationcenter.org.\nThis class introduces the student to the basics of meditation in the Himalayan Tradition. Relaxation techniques\, pranayama (yogic breath)\, ideal sitting postures\, and the use of mantra will be taught to help the student focus the mind and relax the body.  Beginning Raja yoga philosophy is also included in this class.  Treat yourself to the many benefits of a regular meditation practice. \nAaron Means began practicing yoga in 1994 while in college to ease his own afflictions at the time. Soon thereafter he studied and practiced yoga and meditation while living at The Meditation Center and other associated Himalayan Yoga Tradition institutions in the US and India. Aaron completed his first yoga teacher training through the HImalayan Institute Teachers’ Assoc. in 1997\, and started a RYT training program in 2019. He has periodically taught yoga and meditation in the community throughout the years\, as well as at The Meditation Center. Aaron (Arunadeva) has been a student and initiate of Swami Veda Bharati since 1997. His teaching style is reflective of what he has learned under his spiritual preceptor (Swami Veda)\, as well as studies of psychology\, compassion\, and mindfulness. \nAaron earned a doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD) in 2015\, and has been a practicing licensed psychologist in the Twin Cities since 2016. He is married with two children and enjoys spending time with family and friends\, being outdoors\, playing tennis\, and strategy board games. \nTMC policy for those entering the building or participating in outdoor ceremonies will be requesting all to practice non-violence – being fully vaccinated or wearing a mask w/social distancing. Staff and volunteers will not be asking for vaccine certification cards as trust of community will be sufficient.  All are welcome. \nTo further protect the community\, an Iso-Aire purification movable unit has been purchased to use in all rooms of TMC where people gather. These units have pre-filter\, hospital quality HEPA filters\, and a bi-polar ionization unit to remove pollen to pathogens

SUMMARY:Thursday Satsang via Zoom: "The Days of Awe" with Daniel Hertz - September 22\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:Thursday Satsang via Zoom – September 22\, 2022\n“The Days of Awe” with Daniel Hertz\n7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.\n6:00-7:00 p.m.: Guided Hatha Yoga\n7:00-7:30 p.m.: Guided Meditation with Swami Radha Bharati\n7:30-8:30 p.m.: Talk by Daniel Hertz\n8:30-8:40 p.m.: Evening Prayers\n\nThe Meditation Center will be open to view the evening’s Thursday Satsang talk on the Center’s TV screen. \nThe “Days of Awe” are the ten days between the Jewish High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The blowing of the shofar on Rosh Hashanah is a call to wake up to the urgency of each moment. This period of celebration\, contemplation\, and atonement is somewhat comparable to Lent and Ramadan.  The dates also coincide with the Hindu holiday Navaratri. The relentlessness of the High Holidays– the long days at the synagogue\, the constant repetition of the prayers\, the fasting– wears down our defenses and helps us open to the truth of our lives. We will discuss and explore how these “Days of Awe” have the potential to be a journey of self-transformation.\n\nDaniel Hertz (MS\, BCB\, E-RYT 500) has been on the faculty of The Meditation Center\nsince 1995. He has been giving individual Biofeedback sessions at the Center since 2007.
