Thursday Satsang: “What Do We Talk About When We Talk About Death? A Death Cafe”

Rob Workman, NA-R, CHPNA – May 3, 2018

On Thursday, May 3rd, we will be talking about death in a safe, open, supportive circle. We will be following the Death Cafe model where discussion is gently guided by the host and everyone is welcome to contribute as much as they are comfortable. According to the Death Cafe model, the purpose is to “increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives”. There is no agenda, objectives or themes. It is not an offering of professional advice nor of bereavement or grief counseling. The discussion can range from personal experiences to societal mores, traditions and rituals. And then we have soup!

Rob Workman is a Certified Palliative and Hospice Nursing Assistant, though for the purposes of this event he is leaving his scrubs at the door!

Rob’s professional practice is also his spiritual practice. A karma yogi, his seva is providing companionship and spiritual support to his patients, their families and fellow caregivers. He began his career as a hospice volunteer, bringing presence and witness to those actively dying. As a nursing assistant he helps patients with their daily personal cares, ensuring their comfort and dignity, and attends to their bodies at death.

All are welcome! Come for the entire evening, or join at any time. There is no need to make reservations. Simply show up and enjoy yourself!
