In Honor of Ram Dass
Listening to the Ram Dass album with teachings by Ram Dass and music by East Forest with
Accompanying Slide Show
In June 2018, East Forest – an artist whose electro-acoustic music aims to bridge the digital and natural worlds – was invited to Ram Dass’ home in Maui to join in conversation and record brand new teachings from the legendary psychologist/teacher. After capturing these words of Truth, East Forest returned to his studio in the high desert of Southern Utah to compose a full-length, 14-track album, aptly titled Ram Dass. The collaborative work addresses many topics: technology, nature, the soul, death, circular thinking, witness consciousness, karma, the mind, and meeting his beloved guru Neem Karoli Baba in 1967. Featuring guest appearances from the likes of Trevor Hall and Grammy nominated artist, Krishna Das, this beautiful recording offers a direct antidote for a highly polarized world that is deeply in need of a universal voice of wisdom, connection, and unconditional love.
Ram Dass (born Richard Alpert) died on December 22, 2019, a few months shy of his 89th birthday. As a way of celebrating his incalculable contributions, blending Eastern spiritual wisdom in a way that speaks to Western culture, Ram Dass’ legacy will undoubtedly inspire others for generations to come. So let’s honor Ram Dass’ remarkable life and teachings by coming together as a spiritual community and listening to this wonderful, one-of-a-kind album.
A slideshow compiled by Christopher Palbicki featuring images of Ram Dass and Neem Karoli Baba will accompany the music.
