“I moved from Delhi, India to the Winona, Minnesota right after getting married in 2014 with no cooking skills. My mother always wanted to teach me cooking but I had no interest. She used to warn me all the time about the importance of knowing this skill at an early stage in life. However, I was one of the pampered kids in my family and never listened to her. But eventually when I moved to the states, I had to learn it out of necessity and then my mother, Reeta Jain, my sister, Kanika Jain, and my father, Naveen Jain, used to text all the recipes to me and then used to Facetime video with me to ensure the dish looked as expected as they wanted to ensure I fed the best dishes to my husband, Rahul Bansal. It took me 3 years to get comfortable with my cooking and now I am here to share my learning with you all.
My mother passed away in January 2018, but I still keep her picture in my kitchen to ensure everything I cook is blessed by her.”Join Komal Jain Bansal in her offering of this North Indian vegetarian cooking class dedicated to her mother, Reeta Jain. Komal will delight the class with instructions on how to make chai; an appetizer using tapioca, potatoes, and vegetables; dal makhani and rice; kheer; and chapatis. Recipes will be included.
