“Swami Hari, A Simple Forest Monk”
with Daniel Hertz
Join us in a Winter Solstice Celebration as we remember the life of Swami Hari. Swami Hari-harananda Bharati was one of only a handful of direct-disciple monks of Swami Rama. He was affectionately known as the Laughing Swami. He spent many years in Tarkeshwar, the holy Shiva shrine in a deep forest of the high Himalayan foothills. Over a period of about 10 years he transformed from a simple forest monk to a world traveler. Daniel Hertz, who wrote the book Swami Hari: I am a simple forest monk, will talk about Swami Hari and show slides of him and the school he founded for needy students in the remote Himalayas. All proceeds from the sale of the book (available on Amazon) go to support the school. Here is a link to an essay that Daniel wrote about Swami Hari for the AHYMSIN Newsletter after he passed away in 2008.
