Community Music Night with Chris Young!
A wonderful way to enjoy, grow, and maintain community is through playing and singing devotional music together. Expressing ourselves through music is a natural way to deepen and strengthen our relationship to the Divine, to others, and to ourselves. We’ll play some kirtan songs from popular artists, some english language songs, and maybe others! All meant to focus attention towards and open the heart to receiving a positive vibration. There will be lyric sheets with chord symbols and some percussion instruments available for those who would like to sing and play along (if inspired to, please bring an instrument), or just come and enjoy the sound and community!
This is meant to be a community experience, not a performance. As such, we will intend to enjoy the silence between songs in order to deepen the experience of a rising and dissipating vibration. It is an opportunity to express; to receive and give without concern of skill level or musicality. We just want to make a joyful noise!
Chris Young is a longtime initiate and member of The Meditation Center, and also a pretty ok musician! He has studied the yoga of sound since becoming a musician in his teens, and loves to share his talents and joy for devotional music.
All are welcome! Come for the entire evening, or join at any time. There is no need to make reservations. Simply show up and enjoy yourself!
