On June 17, 2021 Salvatore Zambito gave a Thursday Satsang talk entitled,“Love in the Yoga Sutra, Where is It?”

Salvatore sent this message explaining his talk:

“The title of my Thursday talk is: Love in the Yoga-Sutra – Where is it?  This is based on a conversation I had with Swami Veda in 2006 on completion of my first 40-day Silence. In Silence practice, reading is either eliminated or very restricted. My reading was restricted to the Yoga-Sutra. One thing I noticed was that the term love does not appear in this text. I asked Swamiji about this and I will share his response.

We are presenting this video lecture on Thursday in remembrance of Salvatore who passed on September 7, 2023.

From AHYMSIN’s remembrance posting.

Salvatore Zambito recently transitioned from his physical body. Salvatore was active in AHYMSIN including teaching at the 2008 HYT-TTP retreat at Rancho La Puerta and on other occasions. Among other things, his practice included extended silence retreats. He was the founder of the Yoga-Sūtras Institute He is the author of the book The Unadorned Thread of Yoga: The Yoga-Sūtra of Patañjali in English, which presents each of the 196 sūtras with text analysis and twelve authoritative translations, and the Yoga Sutra Sanskrit English Dictionary.

Swami Veda Bharati wrote in 1991, “I am grateful to my friend and student, Salvatore Zambito for bringing out his book containing 12 translations together on each sutra. May Patanjali’s spirit descend into your mind and lift you to the heights of Supreme Solitude (kaivalya).”

Tribute on Facebook by Swami Ritavan Bharati:

Dear Departed Soul, Salvatore, You have learned the knowledge of the Yoga-sutras as a disciple of the Lineage, receiving the revelation as anushasana. This jnana was your lived knowledge through devotion and spiritual solitude; thank you for the many insights you shared. Shreem Gurave Namah.
