Thursday Satsang: “Peace, Protest, and Spirituality” with Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer – April 27, 2017

April 27, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Peace, Protest, and Spirituality with Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer on April 27, 2017

There is no single pathway to express and faithfully live out one’s faith, understanding and experience of God, or spirituality.  Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer will share some of his experience as a person of faith committed to peacemaking and social justice.  A central question for me is how I (and each of us) define and seek to live an authentic life in light of what we experience and know.  For me it is here that spirituality intersects with issues of war and peace, hunger and poverty, beauty and joy, activism informed by mindfulness.

Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer’s Bio:

Jack graduated from St. Olaf College and went on to earn a master’s of divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York.  He served as national coordinator of the Politics of Food Program for Clergy and Laity Concerned, and directed the Hunger and Justice Project in Minnesota for the American Lutheran Church in America.  He and his wife Sara co-directed a house of studies in Nicaragua for the Center for Global Education on behalf of Augsburg College.  He currently heads the Peace Studies Department at St. Thomas University, is very involved with his home congregation and the Community of St. Martin.  He is the author of thirteen books his most recent: The End of the World as We Know It–but Soft Landings are Possible.
